The January 2012 issue of Milkcow has three page article about me and my photography. Thanks very much to Kate at Clumsy for the kind words, they are very much appreciated.
“There are a lot of people out there who call themselves photographers but it takes a certain something to make a great photographer. A keen eye for detail, a sense of composition, and the ability to connect with his or her subject matter. Nick Grant has all of these.”

Big thanks to the VHRA for a great review of Book of Kool

“This is the first book review on the VHRA site but we’re up for more. If you have anything that you think would appeal to our members and that you would like to see reviewed on the site, please send it on through and we’ll see what we can do for you.
First up is Book of Kool, described on their website as:
“Book of Kool is a photo journal of the UK Kustom and Vintage scene. The cars, the models, the people and the objects that make up the subculture are represented in a medium that reflects the subject matter, from a photographer who is well respected in the genre. Each volume will be limited to just 2000 hand numbered copies. 8 inches tall and 5 inches wide, with 80 pages of black and white photos on cream paper.”
Whilst that does give an overview it doesn’t do any justice to the quality of the photographs contained within. Nick Grant is a familiar face at events throughout the country. The buzz cut wearing, 57 Chevy driving cameraman really does get what’s going on. His pictures truely have a vintage feel to them and everyone of his subject matters just pops right off the page.
The book is very artistic in it’s approach and contains no writing apart from a brief introduction to the world of Kustom Kulture. After that it’s a tirade of pin-ups, hot rods, bikers, performers and all the peripherals that go along with the genre.
Photographs were taken at events such as the Hot Rod Hayride, the Rhythm Riot and various shoots around the the UK. Grab yourself a copy and see if you’ve got what it takes to be in the Book of Kool. Be quick though, Volume 1 is limited to just 2,000 copies.”

Big thank to everyone who continues to buy Book of Kool. Copies have gone out to Sweden, Netherlands, USA, Australia, Austria, Switzerland, France, Portugal, Ireland and of course the UK. To add to the international flavour, one person who has been in touch is another of the book’s stars, a Polish girl living in London, Malwina. Thanks for sending in some photos of you with Book of Kool Malwina, you’ve given me an idea for a competition, more on that later.
