Before I ever picked up a DSLR I had a 2 mega pixel Sony point and shoot camera. I liked taking photos and then messing around with them in Photoshop, it got me interested enough to really get involved in photography. There are times when lugging round a Canon 5D and a bag full of lenses would just distract from what you’re actually doing and a day out becomes just about the photography. So as a Birthday treat I decided to get back to my roots and treat myself to a compact camera, a Canon IXUS IS 85. Perfect to slipping in your pocket for a night out or a day away and I can get back to playing with photos in Photoshop.  Here are a few shots from the weekend, see the Flickr set for more.

There was a call for some American cars to be involved in a display outside the Brighton Tattoo Convention so I thought I would make the 50 mile trip down and see what all the fuss is about.  I enjoy tattoos but can’t see I would ever have one as I would change my mind often about what to have. Despite the bitterly cold weather it turned out to be a great day out and I met up with a few guys from the NSRA forum and Volkszone.
